Giant peaked upright T waves in cerebrovascular accident.

چکیده
Tall upright T waves, with a maximal T/QRS ratio (in lead V4) of 1.32, appeared in a 52-year-old patient after a cerebral haemorrhage which was confirmed at necropsy. Hyperkalaemia during life and endocardial or myocardial damage were not found.

Global T-wave inversion in a 77-year-old woman.
77-year-old woman came to the emergency department with dyspnea and T-wave inversions that became deeper and more diffuse over the next 15 hours (Figure). T waves were inverted, in most leads symmetrically, in all leads except aVR and V1, and the QT interval (604 ms with a QTc of 643 ms) was markedly prolonged. Walder and Spodick described this electrocardiographic pattern as global T-wave inve...
متن کاملElectrocardiographic abnormalities simulating myocardial infarction in intracerebral haemorhage and cerebral thrombosis.
During the past 15 years there have been a number of accounts of abnormal electrocardiograms recorded from patients who have cerebrovascular disturbance. Earlier reports dealt principally with subarachnoid haemorrhage. Levine (1953) referred to cascading T waves which became replaced by RS-T segment elevation in a patient who had a ruptured aneurysm of the circle of Willis. Burch, Meyers, and A...
متن کاملGiant Inverted T waves in the emergency department: case report and review of differential diagnoses.
Inverted T waves are frequently seen in electrocardiograms (ECGs) and may represent a myriad of pathologies or nonspecific change. However, deep (giant) inverted T waves are only seen in a few clinical conditions. Presence of giant T waves should generally prompt investigations for apical (Yamaguchi) variant of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, raised intracranial pressure, severe myocardial ischemi...
متن کاملPeaked T-Waves and Potassium: The Reliability of Peaked T-Waves as Indicators of Hyperkalemia in End-Stage Renal Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis
While peaked T-waves have traditionally been associated with hyperkalemia cases, previous studies have called their reliability for hyperkalemia diagnosis into question. This study examined 89 ESRD patients totaling to 736 patient visits. Linear regressions and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses were utilized to assess the reliability of peaked T-waves as a diagnostic criterion fo...
متن کاملAn infant Presenting with Cerebrovascular Accident was Diagnosed as a Sickle Cell Disease Patient: a Case Report
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a known inherited hemoglobin disorder featured by the presence of sickle shaped erythrocytes in the blood. It can cause cerebrovascular accident (CVA) in adults and children and is responsible for the majority of the strokes in children. Repeated blood transfusion are often required in an attempt to dilute blood thus reducing the risk of vaso-occlusion and stroke in...
